David T. Latsha, 93, of Lemoyne, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Born on June 7, 1931, in Harrisburg, PA, David was the beloved son of the late George S. and Blanche H. (Shell) Latsha and cherished widower of Marianne Latsha.
A proud graduate of Camp Hill High School, David served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, David and his parents became the developers and owners of Westgate Garden Apartments in Lemoyne, where he dedicated himself to his work and community.
David was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. His passion for automobiles was evident throughout his life; he cultivated a collection and love for custom hot rods and cars, often working on several projects over the years. A proud member of the Blue Moon Cruiser's Club, he also distinguished himself as World Champion go-kart racer, David Latsha from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, indeed made history by securing 1st place in the Sportsman Class during the Second Annual International Grand Prix De Kart World Championship held in Nassau, Bahamas, from November 21 to 23, 1961. This event was a significant milestone in karting history, showcasing the growing popularity of the sport during that era. and enjoyed various forms of racing, including a top ranked racer at the Hershey Hill Climb in Hershey, Pa. He was also a huge Nascar fan.
In addition to his automotive pursuits, David was a distinguished member of the West Shore Flying Association and a top ranked remote-controlled airplane racer, racing Formula Pylon Race planes across the United States showcasing his creativity and technical skills in racing, model building and design.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Dorothea Anderson, of Lemoyne, PA; his son, Christopher Latsha, of Mechanicsburg, PA; his daughter, Sherry Fowee and her husband Danny, of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Corey Latsha of Pittsburgh, PA, Felicia Marie George and her husband Hunter of Dauphin, PA, and Danielle Wooten and her husband Hank of Cincinnati, OH; as well as five great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne, a son, David Latsha, Jr., a daughter, Wendy Latsha, and a grandson, Brady Lee Latsha.
Funeral services will be private, with burial at the family's convenience in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
David will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his love of family and friends, and his enduring passion for life.
