David "Dave" E. Mathews, 78, of the South Greene Community, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 with his wife by his side.
He was retired from Packaging Services INC. He enjoyed watching the University of Tennessee basketball games and westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Marshall) Mathews. Children, April (Harmon) Lane of Greeneville, Laura Rearick of Muncy, Pennsylvania, and Chris Mathews of Richmond, Indiana. A sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Doug Katz of Richmond, Indiana. 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Jessica, Tristan, Jordan, Taylor, and Lacey. Several great-grandchildren. Nephews, Tarkus Katz of Richmond, Indiana, and Errol Katz of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Lois "Jeanette" Mathews. Father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Marshall.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Caris Healthcare of Greeneville, especially Zonya and Alex.
There will be no formal visitation. Family and friends will meet at GreenLawn Memory Gardens at 3pm on Saturday July 12th 2025 for a graveside service. The Rev. E.J. Swatsell will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greeneville/ Greene County Humane Society in his memory.
Jeffers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
