David Merritt Obituary

David Michael Merritt, 78, of Deerfield Beach, FL., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Born in Roxboro, NC on December 15, 1946, he was the son of the late John W. Merritt and Edith R. Merritt. He was raised in Roxboro, NC and after attending school at Roxboro High School and Louisburg College, he served in the US Army. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and scuba diving in his earlier years. He lived in Gastonia, NC for over twenty years where his four children were raised. He spent his retirement in Deerfield Beach, FL. He will be remembered for his friendliness, sense of humor, and love of oldies music.
Mr. Merritt is preceded in death by his parents, John W. Merritt and Edith R. Merritt.
Mr. Merritt is survived by four children, Shawn Merritt (Diana), of Gastonia, William Merritt, of Charlotte, Jennifer Merritt, of Wilmington and Charles Merritt, of Charlotte; two sisters, Carol Merritt, of Cary and Terri Talbert (Eddie), of Roxboro; one grandchild, Seven Merritt, and his nieces and nephew.
A private service will be held at Burchwood Cemetery on March 1, 2025.
