Dawn Weber, age 49, of Lockport, Illinois, passed away on July 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in 1975, Dawn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Dawn faced life's greatest challenges with grace and determination, embodying the true spirit of a fighter. Diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in May of 2023, she lived her life the next two years undergoing

multiple treatments and procedures with hope and courage. Throughout her voyage, Dawn remained a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whose milestones she cherished and celebrated with pride. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering love, guidance, and support.

Dawn's life was marked by a journey of service, education, and entrepreneurship. She proudly attended the United States Coast Guard Academy and went on to serve her country with honor as a veteran. After her military service, she dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a math teacher at Lemont High School, where she inspired students with her passion for learning and her steady encouragement. Dawn's athletic drive led her to complete multiple marathons, including Boston, as well as, to finish the challenging Ironman Wisconsin. Later, she capitalized on her love of sailing to become an entrepreneur, earning her license as a United States Coast Guard Captain and launching her own business, where she shared her love

of the water with others. As an NauticEd instructor and assessor, her new classroom, as she said, had way

better views.

Dawn's legacy is one of perseverance, love, and determination. She touched countless lives with her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dawn's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the medical teams and caregivers who supported her throughout her journey.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted, her cherished children, Jeremy, Aiden, Sydney, Abby, Madison, and Morgain, her parents, Don and Joan Varanauski, siblings Don (Barb) Varanauski and Christy (Dan) Vehe, nieces Clare, Oliva, and Lilly, nephew Lucas and Andy, and extended family, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life for Dawn will be held July 20, 2025 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at CD & ME, located at 23320 S. Lagrange Road, Frankfort, IL 60423. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 7:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dawn's memory to the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center, supporting the continued fight against the disease she faced with such courage. https://www.uchicagomedicine.org/cancer/give

Hello,

My name is Fleurdeliz Licuanan, and I had Ms. Weber as a calculus teacher for my sophomore and junior year at Lemont Township High School. She was also my Scholastic Bowl coach.

The last time I kept in touch with Ms. Weber was on August 18 of 2023 via Facebook, and she told me she was a sailboat captain, running charters in Lake Michigan. I had told I was a teacher at an Autism therapeutic day school, and her response to that and being a sailboat captain was:

"It's super fun and I just love the water so it's perfect!

Look at you being a teacher!!! That is amazing!! Autistic therapy...you seriously have a heart of gold!!!"

It was because of Ms. Weber I loved being part of a team, persevered at a difficult subject (calculus), and had fun at school.

Sending my deepest condolences and continued prayers for the family.

Sincerely,
Fleurdeliz Licuanan
