A bright light dimmed on August 7, 2025, when DeAnn Scott Hullinger danced peacefully off this life's stage and confidently tap danced her way into the next at the age of 84 surrounded by the love of her family.

DeAnn made her debut in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 8, 1941, to Dean and Pearl Oldham Scott. She was raised in Tooele, along with her younger sister Pam. She attended Tooele High School where she created many lifelong friendships. While there, she put her love for dancing to good use as head cheerleader and was crowned both Jr Prom and Homecoming Queen. During those years, she also delighted in performing on KSL Television's Talent Showcase, danced on-stage all-over Utah with other skilled dancers and found time to whip up ice cream cones and other delights at the local Dairy Queen with her neighborhood bestie. She unselfishly used her earnings to help with bills during her father's lengthy battle with MS.

Following graduation, DeAnn attended Steven Henager's Business College. Upon completion of her training, she was hired by Tooele Smelter and again shared her earnings with her family. It was during this stage of her life, she continued to date her high school sweetheart, Sid Hullinger. She married that handsome young man on September 15, 1960, which was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.

Their first year of marriage was spent in Logan while Sid completed his business degree at USU. They both expressed what a joy filled year it was. Upon Sid's graduation, they moved to McGill, Nevada, for eleven years where they both fell in love with White Pine County's vibrant and friendly community. DeAnn particularly enjoyed putting her dancing skills to beneficial use by choreographing dances for youth dance festivals and creatively orchestrating elaborately decorated Golden Green Balls.

It was also in McGill that DeAnn's most cherished stage performance began. Three beloved daughters came onto the scene. She loved her role as a mother, and she made a joyful art of everyday living. She baked and cooked with love, sewed contest winning Halloween costumes with soul and filled her families life with warmth, laughter and positivity.

Service and community involvement continued with the families move back to Tooele. DeAnn's unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints guided her path. Her service as President of Young Women's, Primary and Relief Society as well as various Stake callings were testaments to her spiritual devotion.

Perhaps the most joyful act of DeAnn's life came later, as a grandmother. This was her favorite time, a season where she poured her full affection and fun into their lives.

Even as she battled dementia, in her final years, she never stopped placing a heartfelt complement or an expression of gratitude to those she came in contact with, whether you were a stranger or a friend. If you knew DeAnn, chances are she made you feel special and like family.

DeAnn is survived by her husband, Sid, her daughters, Shellie (Bob) Matekel, Cari (Shane) Watson, Sydney (Doug) McKinney, 11 beloved grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, her sister Pam (Pat) Dunlavy, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Lila and Pete Kearns and Don and DeAnn Hullinger.

There will be a viewing Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6PM -8PM, at Tate Mortuary, 110 S Main St., Tooele, Utah.

Memorial services will be held at 11AM Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the 11th Ward Chapel, 180 South Coleman Street, Tooele, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10AM to 10:45AM. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the many friends who shared their love, support, and prayers with DeAnn and her family. We also express appreciation for the truly compassionate care provided by Tina, Lindzee, Jenny and the staff at Rocky Mountain Home Health and Hospice as well as Tate Mortuary, for their excellent and professional service.
