Deborah J. Brannen, 70, of Rootstown, passed away Monday July 15, 2025 at the UH Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. On July 27, 1954, she was born in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Harold Hope and Jeanne (Teets) Mayo. She has lived in Rootstown the past 38 years and retired as a playground aide for the Rootstown School System. While working as an aide, she touched the lives of hundreds of children with her kindness and empathy. Many of whom, as adults, still remember a pep talk she gave them when they were 8. Debbie enjoyed crafting and always had an idea for the next big project. She also loved sluicing with her husband, playing patty cake with Max, letting Beau win at every board game and eagerly awaiting the release of the next Jurassic Park film to go see with her daughter. Her snuggles will be missed by her dog Ziva.
Above all else, Debbie will be remembered for her love for her family and friends. She beamed with pride when speaking of her husband, daughter and grandsons. She loved the day of a family picnic because everyone was together and we will continue to honor her at every one going forward.
Preceding her in death was her father Harold Hope, mother and step-father Jeanne and James Mayo. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Keith L. Brannen, whom she married May 21, 1982, her daughter Rachel (Andy Golias) Brannen, grandsons Beau and Max and siblings Harold, Marie, Lisa, Beth, Sandie and Alana. Calling hours will be Sunday July 20, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 11:00 Am Monday July 21, 2025. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery Rootstown. Ohio. Please visit www.sscfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences, share a memory or light a candle.

Truly saddened by the news of her passing. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding in 1973. She stood by my side when I went through some tough times.
