Deborah Kay Cussimanio, 72, of Pittsburg, Kansas, died at 1:53 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025 in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg.

Debbie was born January 12, 1953 in Hutchinson, Kansas, a daughter of William Bernard and Vada Pearl (Ball) LaForge.

She grew up and attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School.

Debbie married John Cussimanio on November 19, 1981 in Miami, Oklahoma and they divorced.

Debbie received her cosmetology certificate in 1986 and worked at B.J.'s Salon in Pittsburg. In subsequent years she was a laboratory analyst before deciding to return to school and receiving her bachelor's degree in 1999 and master's degree in 2002. Upon graduating Debbie was the director of the One-Stop Career Center in Pittsburg before becoming the director of cosmetology at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas until 2009 when she returned to Pittsburg to be closer to her family.

She was a member of Living Faith Church of the Nazarene at rural Girard.

Survivors include her son, Calen Cussimanio, and his wife, Lauren, of Nashville, Tennessee, a stepson, Brian Cussimanio, and his wife, Amy, of Austin, Texas, her grandchildren, Sasha and Olivia, her step grandchildren, Claire, Paige, and Leo, her former husband, John, of Pittsburg, her sisters, Patty Gobl, and her husband, Dan, of Girard and Susie Ewan, and her husband, Rob, of Arma, Kansas.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, a child, Robert, her brother, Robert W. LaForge, and her sisters, Sherry Bauder and Janice LaForge.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Living Faith Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Rick Prideaux and Mike Johnson officiating.

Memorial donations are suggested to Compassionate Ministries at Living Faith Church of the Nazarene and these may be left at the service or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
