Delilah "Markeeta" Childress, 67, of Lost City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on September 19, 1957, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Markeeta was the daughter of Raymond Jones and Irma (Medlin) Moore. She grew up in the Double Springs area and often fondly recalled her early years attending Double Springs School before moving on to Shady Grove Elementary and later Tahlequah High School.

On September 17, 1982, Markeeta married the love of her life, Kevin Childress, in a double wedding ceremony in Miami, Oklahoma, alongside friends Jim and Sandra Hall. Together, Kevin and Markeeta shared 42 years of love, laughter, and devotion.

Markeeta lived a quiet and faithful life, grounded in her love for Jesus and her family. She never sought recognition for her acts of service and kindness, always choosing to give quietly. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and hearing about their everyday lives. Her legacy of humility, compassion, and unwavering faith continues to inspire those who knew her. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now free from pain and rejoicing with her heavenly Father.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Jones.

Markeeta is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Childress of the home; her mother, Irma Moore, and stepfather Loyd "Poppy" Moore; step-mother, Mary Jones; her son, Dusty Childress and her daughter, Joy Hill and husband Roger. She also shared a special bond with Jessica Jackson, whom she loved like a daughter.

She leaves behind three grandchildren: Alyssa Fields and her boyfriend Riley McCafferty; Kevin Dusty Duane Childress; and Jessie Childress-Fields. Markeeta is also survived by her brothers David Jones and wife Kerri, and "Lil Brother" Raymond Jones; stepbrother Larry Moore and wife Patrice; and stepsisters Karen Moss and husband Alva, and Lisa Bower and husband, Roger. She is remembered lovingly by a large extended family including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in gratitude for the loving care and support they provided Markeeta and her family during her final days.
