Delores Coffer Obituary

Delores Coffer, 92, of Demotte, passed away on July 9, 2025, at home with loved ones around her.

On May 20, 1933, Delores was born to Richard and Dora (Ooms) Van Vuren in Lansing, Illinois. She graduated from Wheatfield High School, class of 1951. Delores married the love of her life and best friend, James Coffer, on September 10, 1954 in DeMotte, Indiana. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. Delores had a passion for crafts, always creating beautiful things with her hands and heart, and freely sharing them with family, friends, and others in need around the world. She was a proud and dedicated member of Prospect Auto Supply, where her presence was not only valued but deeply cherished. She especially enjoyed meeting up with friends and family for lunch, where her warm smile and easy conversation made everyone feel at home. Above all, Delores had a deep love for God that guided her through life. Her faith was a constant source of strength and peace, and she shared that light with everyone around her. She was an active member of Bethel CRC since its founding. Delores will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creative soul, and the love she poured into the lives she touched. She was a one-of-a-kind soul who brought light, love, and a little sass wherever she went.

Delores is survived by her beloved children: Mike (Deb) Coffer, Larry (Lorie) Coffer, Keith (Connie) Coffer, Sherri (Ken) Tazelaar, Julie (Norlan) De Groot, 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, brother: Wayne Van Vuren, and sisters-in-law: Donna Van Vuren, Shirley Van Vuren, and Evelyn Coffer.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband: James Coffer, brothers: Richard Van Vuren and Jack Van Vuren, and sister-in-law: Carolyn Van Vuren.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 521 S. Halleck St., DeMotte, IN 46310. Funeral services for Delores will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jeremy Oosterhouse officiating. Interment will take place at the Holland Cemetery.
