Delwyn Gerrit Witzenburg was born January 12, 1942, at home in Otley, Iowa to Gerrit and Ethel (Sjolin) Witzenburg. Delwyn went to Otley Grade School and graduated from the 8th grade in 1956. He then attended Pella High School graduating in 1960. Delwyn lived with his parents in Otley, Iowa until marriage to Rosemary DeMoss. They eloped and were married in the Methodist Church in Unionville, Missouri on June 30, 1963. To this union three children were born: Brenda Lee, Donald Gerrit, and Doyle Marion.
Delwyn had worked at, Pella Rolscreen, Massey Ferguson, Townsends Industry, and retired from 3M in 2007. He was a talented machinist.
Delwyn loved his wife, children, and grandchildren- teasing and picking on them almost constantly. Delwyn loved to camp, travel, spend winters in Texas and Arizona and always enjoyed the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming & Montana. He also enjoyed reading western books and watching old cowboy shows, playing checkers, and he loved to trade cars. Wheeling and Dealing was his favorite part. He would often bring home lawnmowers that were sitting on the curb and try to see if he could fix them, which he did. One time he brought one home, fixed it and took it back where he picked it up and returned it. The man couldn't believe it, he told him thank you and said, "I don't have the money right now for a new one."
Delwyn had a deep faith and was a member of the Regular Baptist Church driving the Sunday School Bus, until the church dissolved and then became a member of the New Covenant Church, then he went to Riverside church.
Delwyn passed away suddenly on July 26, 2025, at the age of 83. Preceding Delwyn in death was his son, Doyle Witzenburg; parents: Gerrit and Ethel Witzenburg; brothers: infant Gerald Allen, Roger and Loren Witzenburg; and his in-laws: Don and Norma DeMoss. His father-in-law told him," I couldn't have picked a better man for my daughter, if I had picked him out myself."
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Rosemary; children: Brenda (Chris) McCombs and Don Witzenburg; grandchildren: Nathan White and Amber McCombs; great grandchildren: Chileigh White and Hudson White; siblings: Allen (Doris) Witzenburg and JoAnn (Tony) Nunnikhoven; and many extended family and friends.
