Dennis Gilroy Obituary
May 30, 1948 - July 7, 2025
Dennis Lee Gilroy, 77, of Cedar Falls, died on Monday, July 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 30, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Victor and Shirley (Fink) Gilroy. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1967. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972, serving in Korea and Thailand, and attained the rank of Sergeant. On October 17, 1998, he was united in marriage to Sarah (Pape) Carlson in Cedar Falls. He worked at John Deere as a machinist until his retirement. After retiring, he became a member of the Cedar Valley Woodworkers, and a crossing guard at Hansen Elementary School in Cedar Falls.
Denny is survived by his wife, Sarah; children, Scott (Heather) Gilroy, Tim (Mindy) Gilroy, Noelle Carlson, all of Cedar Falls, Cameron (Viet Le) Carlson of Portland, Ore., and Kerri (Josh) Hall of Ames; five grandchildren, Dayna and Collin Schuur, Kenzie, Sophie and Stella Gilroy; and great-granddaughter Stevie Snowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Victor and Steven.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 16th, at Richardson Funeral Service. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.
