Dennis Harbin Obituary

Dennis Earl Harbin was born in a farm house in Byron Township, North Dakota, on April 9, 1938 to Charles and Bertha Harbin. The family moved to Austin, Minnesota soon after and he lived there until he graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Navy.
He was a Machinist Mate and served on the USS Cony, USS Preston and the USS Guadalupe. He also taught school at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and was the Ship Superintendent at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. He was a Master Chief Petty Officer when he retired from the Navy after serving 20 years. He then moved to Maryland and worked at Vitro Corporation until he and his wife, Sherlyn, retired and moved to New Boston, Texas.
Dennis' life journey ended on June 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Terry and Keith.
He is survived by his wife, Sherlyn, his sons, Dennis Harbin, Jr. of Ashland, VA; Charles Harbin (Linda), of Liberty Lake, WA; Timothy Whitaker of Prescott, AZ; and Dennis Whitaker (Louise), of Maud, TX; brother David Harbin (Bonnie) of Johnson City, TN; sisters-in-law Dayna Quirijnen (Marcel), of Sikeston, MO; Anne Wyatt (Tom), of Branson, MO, grandchildren Dennis III, Christopher, Briana, Meghan, Temple, Chip, LesLee, Lori and Lexi; eleven great-grandchildren and beloved nephews and nieces.
Dennis was a member of the Chapel of Light church and had been a delivery driver for both the Manna Kitchen and the Community Kitchen. A private memorial service will be held at a later date and his ashes will be scattered at sea according to his wishes. Dennis loved God, his family and his country and he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
