Dennis Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Home of Bradford on May 27, 2025.
Dennis Wayne Smith, 70, of Russell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his home. He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana May 23, 1955 to the late Grover Cleveland and Yvonne Aaron (Jones) Smith.
Dennis was a nice, kind hearted man who was willing to help anyone in need. He loved his family and enjoyed boating and fishing. Dennis loved LSU and the New Orleans Saints football. To say he was a fan was an understatement. Dennis was saved later in life and attended church most recently at Highway Baptist in Judsonia. Dennis was excited to go to Heaven and reunite with his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karen Vaughn Smith; step-daughter, Tamara Vanoven (James); son, Zach Smith; granddaughters, Jessie-Kay Rutherford and Whitney Vanoven; sisters, Susan Taylor (Paul) and Jeanne Hand; brother, James Smith (Diane); sister-in-law, Beth Smith and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Marylyn Pierce and Donna Mayfield and brothers, Donald, Gerald and Chris Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highway Baptist Church in Judsonia with Bro. James Vanoven officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery at Russell. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Bradford. www.powellfuneralhome.net.

Karen and Family,
Terry and I send our deepest condolences and prayers.
Dennis and I met when I came from California to complete a Construction Project in Searcy.
Dennis not only became an employee but a close and very cherished friend for life.
We shared time in the outdoors, meals and Holidays and became family.
I was blessed to have this relationship with one of the kindest, genuine human beings I have ever known.
On this day when Dennis is laid to rest know that he made this World a better place with his human kindness towards his fellow man.
Today I celebrate your life, as well as our friendship and love for one another.
Rest forever as we know you are in the arms of Jesus.
