Minister Derrick "Dee" Brown was born May 14, 1981, the son of the late Mr. Roger Jones and Pastor Doretha Brown-Simmons in New Rochelle, New York. He was educated in the public schools of Albany, New York and graduated class of 1999.
At the early age of 14 years old, he was ordained as a Minister in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a follower of Thee Dwelling Place Apostolic Center under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Marquis J. Grant.
He was the owner of Soul Delicious in Troy, New York and Cafe 125 in Albany, New York. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Across The Street Pub in Albany, New York.
On June 3, 2015 Derrick was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Keita Louis Brown. During his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, basketball, and his favorite football team was Dallas Cowboys.
Minister Derrick receive his Saviors summons and succumbed to an eternal bliss on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Albany Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Though he's physically gone from our earthly presence, his boldness, demeanor, and personality will live on in the hearts of all who loved and knew him.
In addition to his father, he was proceeded in death by his brother; Jarvaris Simmons.
Minister Brown's departure has left a tremendous void in his family, His Wife Mrs. Keita Louis Brown, Loving and Caring Mother, Pastor Doretha (Deacon Bobby) Simmons, (11) Children: Zay-Quan Oliver, Dajah, Damon, Derrion, Deavion, Kaden, Kadera, Kendaya Brown, Kairo, Kasaii, Keilani Moore (3) Grandchildren: Za'rhyy Oliver, Autumn Teah, Amore Oliver. (5) Brothers: Roger and Lester Brown, Boris Reese, Decarlo Simmons, Roger Times (2)Sisters: Patricia Jones and Rochelle, (Michael) Davis. One special Aunt Ramona Crim. One special and devoted friend, Ms. Monique Moore. A host of devoted friends, too many to name a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and sympathizing friends.
A visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service to begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery.
