Dewayne Lee Rose, of Caney, Kansas, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 75. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at Potts Chapel of Caney.

Born on August 8, 1949, Dewayne was the second of four sons to Albert Lee Rose and Eleanor Faye Rose. He graduated from Alva High School in 1968 and went on to serve in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1969 to 1975. During his service, he was awarded the Oklahoma Commendation Medal for his efforts in aiding residents during the “Carpenters Blizzard” of February 1971 and was mobilized in response to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary riot in 1973.

On May 1, 1971, Dewayne married the love of his life, Kathy Louis Duncan. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication, raising three children: Kasandra Fawn Rose, Krystal Tonnelle Everly, and Ryan Nathaniel Rose.

Dewayne’s career was marked by hard work and pride in his accomplishments. He worked for the state conservation office and the Alva Fire Department before founding his own business, Rose Dozer, which remained a source of pride throughout his life. In 1980, he joined Cities Service Gas Company, and in 1983, the family relocated to Caney, Kansas. Dewayne later joined Jensen International, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 2014. Retirement didn’t last long, as he returned to work at North Star Metal Works—a role he cherished deeply, especially because it allowed him to work alongside two of his grandsons.

An avid outdoorsman, Dewayne found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening (often with his cat, Leo), carpentry, metalwork, farming, and cattle ranching. He also enjoyed trips to the casino. Above all, his greatest passion was his family, for whom he made countless sacrifices. He was especially proud of his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dewayne is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathy; daughters Kasandra and Krystal; son Ryan and his wife Stacie; grandchildren Shaycee and Andrew Bowman, Mariah and Krymson Clopp, Keith Everly, and Dakota and Tanner Rose; and great-grandchildren Daxon and Freya Medoza, and Woodson Bowman.

As one final act of compassion and generosity, Dewanye elected to donate his organs in hopes that it might provide someone with more time with loved ones and a better quality of life.

He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, deep love for his family, and the legacy of kindness and strength he leaves behind. To leave a special message for the family please visit www.pottsfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Potts Chapel.
