Mr. Dewey Everette Teal of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Born in Tyus, Georgia, on September 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Lunie Everette Teal and Jimmie Lee Windom Teal.
Dewey Teal was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He married Ramona Pierce in 1956, and they shared a lifelong love that was enviable. Dewey was an admirable family man, dedicated to giving unconditional love and unwavering support to his loved ones.
Dewey was a true gentleman who made it his mission to brighten everyone's day. He greeted all with a genuine smile and kind words. In a perpetual good mood, both patience and kindness were intrinsic to his nature. He and "his bride" (as he referred to Ramona, his wife of 68 years) enjoyed international travel and visited over 35 countries together.
Mr. Dewey Teal earned a BBA degree from the University of Georgia and dedicated 38 years of his professional life as an executive with Southwire Company, where he received the Distinguished Service Award. Dewey also served as Director and Treasurer of both the Cherokee Insurance Agency and Southwire International Insurance Company.
A man of deep faith and steadfast commitment, Dewey joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1957 and served his church faithfully as Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School teacher, and leader of numerous committees throughout the years. Dewey also served the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia on the Coordinating Council.
Dewey's service extended into his community and country. He was a Mason and member of the American Legion. Dewey was a proud member of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War with the elite Army Security Agency (ASA).
Dewey Teal is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona Teal; daughter, Elisabeth Teal; daughter, Rebekah Teal (James Robertson IV); and son, Mark Teal. Grandchildren, Julia Barbani (Joseph) and Alyssa Teal; great-grandchild, Scarlett Barbani. Sister, Janice Teal; brother-in-law, Troy Reeves. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Teal and Jerry Teal; sisters, Lillian Teal Moore, Sibyl Teal Estes, Margie Teal Reeves, Berna Teal Burson, Ramona Teal Johnson, and Margaret Inez Teal McDonald.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12 noon in the chapel at Tabernacle Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until 11:45am in the Heritage Room at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery, Teal Family Section, with John Moore, Scott McDonald, Troy Reeves, Greg Teal, Jeff Teal, and Joseph Barbani serving as pallbearers. American Legion Post 143 will be providing military honors.
Mr. Dewey Teal's life is a testament to faith, loyalty, humility, joy, and love. If everyone lived as Dewey did, the world would be more peaceful, Godly, and fun.
