Dewight Wayne Green, known to many as "Shaft" was born March 1, 1954, in Camden, Arkansas I.C. Maddox and Bobbie Jean Green Kendricks. After the unexpected demise of his mother, Dewight was adopted by his maternal grandparents Joe and Mary Green alongside his brother Rickey.
At a young age Dewight joined St. James A.M.E Church where he served in the male chorus. Although Dewight was a proud 1974 graduate of Camden High, you could often catch him and his good friend James Lowe in the stands of many Camden Fairview games. Dewight was also a devoted Denver Broncos fan who loved to call his cousin Vincent Green to joke with him about the Dallas Cowboys. Never meeting a stranger and always one to lend a helping hand, you could also catch Dewight assisting his friends in any way he could, especially with trips to the local grocery stores.
Dewight was preceded in death by his parents-I.C. Maddox and Bobbie Jean Green Kendricks; maternal grandparents/adoptive parents Joe and Mary Green; and brothers Emmanuel Maddox and Ronnie Charles Kendrick.
Dewight leaves to cherish his memory: wife-Bridgette Green; son-Joshua Morehead; brothers-Rickey Green, Larry (Carol) Kendricks, Calvin (Patricia) Maddox, and Alvin (Glenda) Maddox; sisters Lois Reed, Darwana (Jay) Hall, Gloria Maddox Powell, Stephanie (Craig) Steele, LaSheryl Harris, Tina Douglas; aunt Shirley Leonard; stepmother Annie Maddox; stepfather Leon Kendricks; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
