Diane K. Black, born on January 27, 1943, in Highland Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at Michigan House Senior Living in Riverview, Michigan. Diane was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Diane's early years were filled with energy and enthusiasm. After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1961, where she proudly participated on the Swim Team, she embraced her passion for dance. Her talents led her to dance professionally in New York shortly after high school, illuminating stages with her grace and spirit. However, after a year in the bustling city, she returned to Michigan where she married and would start her most cherished role: motherhood.
She was the loving mother to three wonderful children: Colleen (Virgil) Hinzmann, Dr. Keith (Eileen) Cook, and Jeff Cook. Diane’s unwavering love and support for her children were evident in the way she cherished their achievements and comforts. She found immense joy in witnessing their lives blossom, and her children were often her proudest accomplishment.
As a grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren—Dennis Hinzmann, Daniel (Heather) Hinzmann, Kirstin Cook, Sara Cook, Kaitlyn Cook, and Cameron Cook—Diane’s legacy continued to grow. Her laughter and warmth created a nurturing environment for each grandchild, and she took great pride in their individual journeys. Diane also found her heart expanding further with the arrival of two great-grandchildren, Averie and Gage, bringing her immeasurable joy.
Her career as an Administrative Assistant at Wayne State University showcased her dedication and commitment, not only to her professional life but also to the community she served. Diane poured her heart into her work, always striving to support those around her.
Diane leaves behind her cherished family and an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gordon and Rose Black, and her dear brother, Gary Black. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers, as they guided her life and inspired her spirit.
In celebration of Diane's life, a Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the Funeral Service at 6:30 PM at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI. On Saturday, August 16, 2025, family and friends are invited to gather for her Burial at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, starting at 10:00 AM.
Diane’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, dance, family, and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those she cherished. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered, as she dances in their hearts through eternity.
