Dickie R. Jenkins, age 79 of Kinmundy, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home.
Dickie was born on March 11, 1946, in Kinmundy, Illinois, the son of Paul Freeman Jenkins and Ethel (Kniseley) Jenkins.
Survivors include his children, Heath A. Jenkins and wife Shavonna of Flora, Chad Jenkins and wife Shaun of Iuka and Jason Jenkins of Buncombe; grandchildren, Trenton Jenkins, Shaylee Mann and husband Brody, Draven Jenkins, Wyatt Jenkins, Shelby Jenkins, and Piper Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Avisynn Jenkins and Nash Jenkins; lifelong friend who is like a brother, Bob Wright; several nieces and nephews; and his N.A. family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jack Jenkins, Peggy Medley, Bill Jenkins and Sandy Pinney; and his Pitbull best friend, Champ.
Dickie was active in Narcotics Anonymous and worked at a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor for many years. He impacted the lives of thousands of individuals across the country. One of the highlights of his involvement with N.A. was the Flight to Freedom in Carlyle. He had also worked at Caterpillar for 19 years, as an over the road truck driver for many years, and at NAPA in Salem. He was active in the Omega Boosters, always giving his time and work towards the ice cream social. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a 42-year member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge 0398. Dickie enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, collecting and hunting for native American artifacts, and restoring old hot rods. He was a member of the NRA and a proud supporter of the Constitution. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend Bob, kids and grandkids. He never met a stranger and always made sure to tell you "I love you" before parting ways. Dickie always did more for others than he did for himself.
