James Edward Huff, born February 16, 1943, passed away at his home in Greeneville, TN on September 13, 2025 at the age of 82 after a 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed camping, traveling, attending antique car shows with his 1948 Ford Coupe, and spending time with family and friends. He attended Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Gordon) King of Afton, Yvonne Bender of Limestone, and Kathy (Paul) Wilkerson of Mosheim; two sons, Johnny Huff of Greeneville and Jerry Huff of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mark (Donna) Bender Jr., Stevi (Jason) Misener, Sarah Bender, James (Lesley) Bender, Brett (Leslie) Wilkerson, Jessie (Michael) Carpenter, Kathlyn (Timmy) Bitner; and 13 great grandchildren. Other survivors include, one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Gene GeFellers; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Elaine Huff; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Sue Huff; and his parents, Elsie and Bernice Huff.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Jeffers Funeral Service at Afton. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Lewis officiating. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 am in Stone Dam cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family would like to thank the employees of Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice for all the love and kindness shown to the family, and especially to their Dad. We also would like to thank Dr. Patel and the staff at Tennessee Cancer Specialists.
