Dominick Mark Guido, Sr., 78 of
Wake Forest, NC, formerly of Raleigh, NC and Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on January 15, 2025, after a long and very courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure.
He was born on July 25, 1946, to Joseph V. Guido, Sr., and Elieen June Minser Guido, in Youngstown, Ohio. He grew up in Hubbard, Ohio and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1964. Dominick attended Cleveland State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Soon after graduation, he married Mary Ann LaMarc of Youngstown, Ohio. Dominick then enlisted in the United States Army Reserves where he proudly served his country for over six years.
Upon being honorably discharged, Dominick and Mary Ann moved from Ohio to Raleigh, North Carolina after Dominick accepted a job as an Admixture Salesman for Master Builders, Inc in 1973. He soon became known as "Mr. Master Builders" where he worked on countless projects such as 1-140 bridge in Wilmington (NC) the Cancer Center at East Carolina University, the $90 million dollar Manteo (NC) 5.3 mile, 4 lane Bypass Bridge, the Highway 17 bridge in New Bern (NC) Asheboro (NC) Zoo, Crabtree Valley parking deck in Raleigh (NC) along with countless other high-rises, bridges, parking decks and miscellaneous projects. However, he was most proud of his work on the complete renovation of the Raleigh-Durham Airport in the early 2000's. Dominick was often referred to as "a giant in the industry" and a multiple recipient of the Master Marker Award and Master Builders Million Dollar Club Awards, not to mention a leading and frequent top salesman for his chemical portfolio. In his career Dominick sold over $115 million dollars' worth of chemicals. Dominick certainly thought of his customers as not only friends, but his second family. Coincidentally, he began his career with Master Builders on January 15th and passed away 52 years to the day of beginning the career he so deeply loved.
Upon retiring, Dominick spent his time trying out new recipes and restaurants. He was an avid reader where he frequented the local library. He thoroughly enjoyed attending any type of sporting event with his son, and was typically seen wearing Wolfpack Red. He became a dedicated and invaluable Food Sourcing Volunteer at the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle (a Feeding America Food Bank) where he dedicated well over 25 hours per week. But as he would say, his greatest accomplishment was the time he spent with his grandchildren Olivia and Joseph, who he loved fiercely.
Dominick will be most remembered for his deep voice, infectious and oftentimes sarcastic laugh, his fun disposition, and his overall love of life. He believed it was his moral duty to use his life to make this world a better place than he found it. His legacy and lessons will live on in all those who knew him.
Dominick leaves behind his children, Kara (Justin) of Youngsville, NC, Dominick Jr. of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren Olivia Rose and Joseph Justin, his brothers Joseph Jr. (Joan), Jim (Pamela), Dean (Vicki) and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved tremendously.
