Mr. Donald Murlin Casey, age 73, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away June 22, 2025. He was born April 1, 1952 in Cedartown, GA to the late John L. Casey and Josephine Hitchcock Casey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Casey and Wayne Casey; brother in law, Raymond Chupp; and father in law, Dewitt Hulsey.
Don was an exceptional individual who embodied kindness, compassion, love, and loyalty. His most profound joys were moments spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Don found delight in life's simple pleasures, including leisure golf cart rides, slow-paced country drives while listening to Old Time Rock and Roll, and later in life, upbeat southern gospel music, campfires, and family gatherings. Don explored various career paths before discovering his true calling as a butcher. He worked briefly at Thrift Town in Bremen and later secured a position at Holcombe's Foodland in Tallapoosa, where he served as the Special Butcher, retiring after over 30 years. Don leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a reminder to cherish every moment and to embrace the joys life has to offer. While we mourn the loss of a wonderful man, let us celebrate the remarkable journey he embarked on and all the lives he touched. Please continue to pray for our family.
2 Corinthians verse 8 states, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Debra Hulsey Casey, of Tallapoosa; daughters and son in law, Jennifer and Jason Herring, of Arlington, VA, Allison Ledbetter, of Bremen, GA, Misty Williams, of Anniston, AL, and Ashley Williams, of Rockmart, GA; son and daughter in law, Justin and Kyncade Turner, of Tallapoosa; grandchildren, Brett Ledbetter, Christian Ledbetter, Drew Ledbetter, Annistyn Ledbetter, Evelyn Herring, Tami Davis, Kaitlynn Rowell, Rickey Williams, Bradey Williams, Whitley Williams, Kaylor Turner, Sawyer Turner, Kynna Turner, Axel Turner, and Memphis Turner; great grandson, Colt Rakestraw; sisters and brother in law, Mary Chupp, of Rockmart, GA and Linda and Jimmy Tracy, of Cedartown; brothers and sister in law, Bruce and Patsy Casey and Larry Casey, all of Cedartown; a host of nieces and nephews; dear friend, Ron Casey; and mother in law, Mary Hulsey.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 4:00PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Rev. Alton Stamey officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel on Sunday beginning at 2:00PM.
