The staff of Heishman Funeral Home Inc., Heishman Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of Don Franklin Wilkins. Don Franklin Wilkins, 90, of Woodstock, VA and Winter Haven, FL, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center. Don Wilkins was born on September 17, 1934, in Middletown, Virginia. He was the son of the late Carl Glenn and Susie Didawick Wilkins. He proudly served in the United States Army in 1957 and 1958, stationed at South Korea. Don also served in the US Army Reserves for additional 4 years. Don retired from Service Painting in Tampa, Florida where he was Project Superintendent. He previously worked at Rose's Stores, based in Henderson, NC from early 1960's through 1970's. Most will remember Don from his work at Woodstock Ben Franklin and Advance Stores, as well as choir director at Woodstock Methodist Church. Don is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Janet Strosnider Wilkins; sons, Derek Wilkins and Daryn (Alysia) Wilkins; daughter, Dante (Wayne) Harp; grandchildren, Susan Harp, Amanda (Joseph) Dueker, Jonathan Wilkins, and Stephen (Alyne) Wilkins; and great grandchildren, Reilyn Wilkins, Bowman Dueker, Stratton Dueker, Lydia Wilkins, and Ysven Wilkins. A man of quiet strength and deep compassion, Don Wilkins will be dearly missed. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. The family would like to thank all the staff at Winchester Medical Center for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask those to please consider a contribution to Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department. A gathering to honor and celebrate Don will be held in the near future, information will be forthcoming.
