A proud graduate of Clifford High School, Don's commitment to his country was evident early on when he enlisted in the United States Navy. Serving as a Petty Officer 1st Class from 1952 to 1956, he dedicated four years to serving his nation with honor and distinction. After his military service, Don embarked on a successful career as an accountant, a profession where his meticulous nature and integrity shone brightly until his retirement.
Never one to remain idle, Don found a new way to serve his community, in his 70's, he became a sheriff's reserve deputy for the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department. His unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.
Don's faith played a significant role in his life. He was a past member of Asbury United Methodist Church and later found spiritual fellowship at the Community Church of Columbus, where he was an active and beloved member.
Beyond his professional and community service, Don was a passionate family man. He cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, imparting wisdom and sharing in their joys and accomplishments. His love for golf was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with friends, enjoy the outdoors, and engage in friendly competition.
