Donald Brandenburger, 83 of rural Monango, ND died June 24, 2025 at his home. He was born at home to Daniel and Leontina (Bartell) Brandenburger of Monango. He was educated in Merricourt in 1948 finishing in 1959. Donald was baptized when he was 10 years old at home in Monango. And confirmed in the Congregational Church in Merricourt. Donald moved to California after high school and worked as a carpenter. He later moved to Minneapolis where he started working for Minneapolis Moline. In 1963, Donald joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was in the infantry and was a rifleman receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1965 as an E4. After the service Donald moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Dana Corporation until he retired. In 1972, Donald married Kathleen Mc Namara and they lived in Apple Valley, MN until he moved back to Monango. Donald bought a plot of land and built his home. He lived there until his death. Donald went on a Missions trip to India through the Nazarene Church, Ellendale which he attended for some time. Donald enjoyed reading his bible in the evenings. He loved the Lord and we know he is now resting in the arms of Jesus. Donald leaves behind one brother: Robert Brandenburger of Monango, ND, three nieces and three nephews: Arlee (Ron) Franz of ND, Max Brandenburger of ND, Pam Rosch of MN, Tom (Rhonda) Brandenburger of ND, Bryan (Iva) Brandenburger of ND, Kristi Brandenburger of SD.
A memorial service is 10am Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale with Pastor Karen Engelke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors is at Ellendale City Cemetery. Donald’s service will be live streamed here on Donald's obituary page. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, ND.
