Donald A. Daoust. age 77, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2025, with his wife Debbie of 50 years and his loving family by his side. Don was known as the Mayor of Elm Street. He was born with his twin brother Ronald on December 30, 1947 in Coxsackie to the late Alfred and Julia Daoust. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Catskill and Hudson Valley Community College. He was employed by NYS Environmental Conservation in the Air Pollution Division and worked in NYC after 911. Donald served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Coxsackie American Legion Post 166 and life member of 60 years in the Coxsackie Hose Company #3. He served many positions including Chief of the Fire Department, Village Trustee and Deputy Supervisor for the Town for many years. He was Grand Knight for the Coxsackie Knights of Columbus and coached many different sports for his kids. He enjoyed golfing, fishing with his grandson, having coffee every morning with his friends and what he loved most of all was making people laugh and spending time with his family. Besides his wife of 50 years, Debbie (Fuhrman) Daoust, he is survived by his son Bryan (Kim) Daoust, daughter Bridget Daoust, daughter Brandi (Nick) Gatti and grandchildren Blake, Milo and newly born Matilda May. Sister Judee (Daoust-Synakowski) and partner Bill Myers, brother- in-laws Richard (Hilary) Fuhrman. Wayne (Carol) Fuhrman, John (Jill) Fuhrman and sister-in-law Terri (Fuhrman) Engebretsen and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Lily, his mother and father Julia and Alfred Daoust, his twin brother Ronald and sister-in-law Kathy and brother-in-law Leo Synakowski, as well as his mother and father-in-law John and Rosalie Fuhrman. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at St. Mary's Church in Coxsackie on Thursday, July 31st from 3-6pm with a service at 5:30 pm. A private military burial at Saratoga National Cemetery will be held on Friday, August 1st . Due to cemetery floral restrictions and regulations; In lieu of flowers, donations will go to Coxsackie Hose Company #3, 218 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, NY 12051, DM Hamilton Fire Company 117 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY 12051 and The Greene County Womens League Cancer Patient Aide, P.O. Box 341 Round Top, NY 12473. Arrangements are under the direction of the W.C. Brady's Sons Inc. Funeral Home, Coxsackie, NY

I will forever remember "coach" Daust as the great field hockey coach he was. He made it so fun and we always had Fridays off for "medicine day"
