In Loving Memory of Donald Joseph Huffmaster
July 30, 1952 – June 15, 2025
Donald Joseph Huffmaster, a beloved husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Donald lived most of his life in Florida, later building a life in Astor with his beloved wife Mary ~ a life rooted in kindness, connection, and quiet strength.
He was a proud graduate of Umatilla High School, Class of 1970, and remained connected to his roots and community throughout his life.
He was the cherished son of the late Calvin and Hortense (Tiny) Huffmaster and is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Huffmaster, and his dear sister, Mitzi Windham. Donald and Mary were happily married for 35 years, sharing a deep and loving bond. They enjoyed a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, love, and many adventures especially traveling side by side and making memories wherever they went.
He was a proud and loving stepfather to Katrina Blount and John Blount. Though he had no biological children of his own, he embraced his extended family with his whole heart. Donald was especially close to his step-grandchildren Trever Cribbs, Tommy Cribbs, Tyler Cribbs, Trisha Anderson, Lilee Blount, and Aubrey Willoughby all of whom he loved dearly and who brought great joy into his life.
He also leaves behind his beloved niece and nephews: Shane Martin, Zachary Windham, and Matthew Windham.
Donald worked faithfully for 27 years with the St. John's River Utility in Astor, Fl. where his dedication and reliability made a lasting impact. Outside of work, he found true joy in Ham radio. A gifted communicator, Donald was recognized with numerous honors, including the Master of Communications Award for North America, South America, and the European region, as well as the DX World Award for worldwide contact across all continents.
Donald will be remembered for his quick wit, humble spirit, and the helping hand he extended to everyone he met. Whether fixing a neighbor's issue, sharing stories on the radio, or spending time with his family, he made every moment count.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, June 27th at 11:00 AM at Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory in Astor, Florida.
Donald Joseph Huffmaster leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and the quiet strength of a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
