Donald “Donny” Krueger passed away Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at his home in Grand Marsh at the age of 63. Donny was born on August 28th, 1961 in Milwaukee to Dale and Carol (Fisher) Krueger. He married the love of his life Wendy Heffner on Valentine’s Day of 1980 in Milwaukee. Their marriage spanned over 45 years, and they were blessed with two sons. Donny worked as an electrostatic painter for over 25 years in the Milwaukee area, and retired in 2013. He and Wendy moved to Montello in 2019, and later relocated to Grand Marsh in 2021.
Donny had an absolute passion for fishing and hunting. Even as early as 5 years old, he got caught ditching kindergarten to go fishing. He had the ability to produce fish in any body of water, whether he was familiar with it or not. This is how he earned his nickname “The Fishin’ Magician”. His #1 hunting buddy was his black lab, Chief; they were inseparable and would spend endless days together kicking up birds and rabbits. All of his hunting and fishing buddies will tell you he was the best around.
Donny is survived by his wife, Wendy, two sons: Don Jr. (Gerri Simons) of Montello, and Mark (Mandie) of Richfield as well as two grandchildren: Desirae and Shawn. He is also survived by his siblings: Sandra McConnell, Dolly Houdek, Jimmy, and Kathleen (Paul) Hernstine as well as many other extended relatives. Donny will truly be missed by his many hunting and fishing buddies.
Donny is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Michelle.
A memorial service for Donald Krueger will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Inurnment will be private.
