Donald Alfred Picard 85 of Waterbury, beloved husband to Irene Picard, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday October 11, 2024 at Conroe Health Care Center in Conroe Texas. He is preceded by his parents George Albert Picard & Claire M (Picard) Gervais, his brother Albert F Picard and sister Kathleen Fontaine.
Donald is survived by his wife Irene Picard of 63 years, sons Donald A Picard Jr. and Michael D Picard, sisters Claire LeBlanc and Geraldine & Norman Lambert, grandchildren Amanda Denton and Andrew Picard, and many nieces and nephews.
Don was born June 9, 1939, in Waterbury, Ct. and was a lifelong member of Saint Anne’s Parish where he also attended grammar school. He graduated from Crosby High School. He went into a long career as a tool die worker in Waterbury until he retired. He enjoyed going to the health spa, golfing, cooking and entertaining family and friends. After his retirement at age 62, Don lived in Florida with his wife enjoying traveling, cruising, golf league, bowling league, bocce league and relaxing in the sun where he was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, Fl.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Saturday November 2, 2024 at the Shrine of Saint Ann’s, 515 South Main Street, Waterbury, Ct 06706. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
