Trinity, NC went home to be with the Lord on Jan 25, 2026 at the age of 64. He moved to his eternal home in heaven, with his wife of 33 years by his side.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Jan 31st at Community Chapel Baptist Church, 3501 Ravendale Dr.
Greensboro, NC 27406. Officiating will be his longtime Pastor and friend, Rev. Ray Calhoun. The immediate family will receive family and friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service.
Donald Ray Rogers born March 16, 1961, in
Mullins, SC to Franklin Ray and Gracie Pearl Prevatte Rogers. In Donald's earlier career, he was an upholsterer at several furniture factories. Most will remember him at Caraway Furniture where he worked when he married his wife of 33 years. He worked for a few years at Greensboro Refrigeration Services, Inc., along with his wife, as a refrigeration installer. His last public job was at AGI furniture until his disability in 2005 occurred. He was a wonderful provider!
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Nascar , and watching sports on television. He could catch a flounder like no other and when able to fish in his earlier years he stayed on an embankment doing what he loved. He loved Duke Basketball, Boston Red Sox, The Miami Dolphins, and was an Ernie Irvan fan before his decline in health. His nephew coined him with the phrase, "King Cut Bait", because when fishing at the coast if there was a fish within arms link it would be cut up for bait!
He loved his family but was most proud of his daughter and her family. Although he could not convey his feelings in a conventional way, he would always try to show them in the best way he could. He LOVED his grandchildren with all his heart. Not all knew, but he had a very tender and big heart for people in need.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gracie Pearl Rogers and father Franklin Ray Rogers of New London, NC, and his special Aunt Willodean Grant McNeil of
Mullins, SC. He leaves behind his wife Teresa Shaw Rogers of 33 years of the home. Daughter Amber Shaw Belangia (Casey), grandchildren Norah, Finley, and Brighton of High Point, NC. And last but not least, his furry friend and lapdog whom he loved dearly…Peewee.
He also leaves behind his sister Gloria (Mike) Ingram of Sophia, NC, sister Teresa Rogers Bent of Denton, NC, sister Jackie (Todd) Holliday of
Archdale, NC, and brother David (Crystal) Rogers of
Archdale, NC whom he had a very close and special relationship with. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews that he thought the world of as well.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Asheboro for the wonderful care and consideration they have shown and provided. My family, his sisters and brother for their support and aid during these final days of life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald's memory to Community Chapel Baptist Church.
