Donald Ray Sellars passed away unexpectedly at the age of 79 on May 26th, 2025.
Born December 6th, 1945, Don had a great many family members waiting to greet him in Paradise; his mother and father, Harry and Mattie Sellars, his daughter, Kim A. Sellars, his father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Eleanor Fay, sister-in-law Sandy Fay and sister-and brother-in-law, Nancy and Harvey Sallee, a bonus family that he
loved like his own after he met his wife. Caregiving ran in Don's nature like a river: wide, deep and patient.
He adored his wife of 54 years, Donna Fay Sellars, so deeply that he was caring for her right up until the day he died. The loss of Don is profound, leaving his niece, Denise Jones, and his best friend of 20 years, Stevie Riner, to try and pick up the pieces where he left them on the kitchen table. Don is mourned by his brother-in-law, Ronnie Fay, nephew David (Dana), niece Laurie (Kenny), several great nieces and nephews, and all the lifelong friends he made as a machinist at the Nabisco factory for almost 40 years before retiring, and also as a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the Eagles, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A proud Army Sergeant and Veteran of the Vietnam war, Don joined every organization where he could connect with and empathize with fellow servicemen, as truly only one who has experienced war can understand his fellows who served.
Don leaves behind a legacy of compassion and camaraderie, and in his honor, a celebration will be held at Moose Lodge #2333 in Montross on Sunday, June 29th, at 2:00pm. Don's family invites you to join in love and laughter, raising a beer or a soda to Don's memory.
