Donald "Don" Roger Ziskovsky, age 92, of St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, surrounded by family.
Don was born on November 3, 1932, in St. Paul, where he spent most of his life. A proud 1950 graduate of Monroe High School, he went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a radio operator, traveling the world while assisting in air-to-air refueling missions. After completing his service, Don enjoyed a long and respected career as a barber. He owned and operated The Barber Mug on West 7th Street in St. Paul, where he served the community and built lasting relationships with generations of loyal customers for over 30 years.
Don was known for his quiet strength, warm smile, and tireless work ethic. He found joy in simple things: spending hours fishing in his red "Bohunk" boat in search of "sunfish heaven," tinkering on handyman projects around the house, and spending time with the people he loved. He found meaning in everyday moments and took great pride in the life he built.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pam Ziskovsky; their children, Megan (David) & Michael (Lisa), and his children, Linda & Tom (Denise). He was a proud grandpa to Benjamin, Joshua, Mateo, Theodore, and Eliana. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ziskovsky & Dorothy Lundgren Kroeker (Leon), and his siblings, Robert, Joseph, and Cheryl.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the MN Veterans Home – Minneapolis for their kind, compassionate care over the past 2 ½ years - and for the fishing openers, ice cream, Pokeno, new friendships, concerts, Bingo and fun activities that brought joy to Don's final years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 11, 2025, at 11 AM, with visitation 1 hour prior at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (515 Albert St, St. Paul). A celebration of life luncheon will follow. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Don's honor to Mpls Vets Home – recreation dept.
Don's legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the community he served, and the quiet wisdom he shared throughout his 92 years. He will be deeply missed.

I am saddened to hear of Don's passing. I have enjoyed getting to know him during his time that he has been at the MN Veteran's home. I have also had the pleasure of getting to know his wonderful family. You are all in my prayers during this sad time. I will miss seeing all of you at the home. But I will especially miss visiting with Pam. Remember God is walking with you this difficult time.
