Donna Jean Black, 88, passed away peacefully at home in Tulare on Thursday February 6, 2025. She was born January 10, 1937, in Oblong, Illinois to Marvin and Lucy (Galey) Jones and was the oldest of three children. She graduated from McLeansboro Township High School and received an Associate's degree in business from Southern Illinois University. She met Don Black in St. Louis and their favorite place to spend time was at Forest Park, and they were married March 13, 1959, in Hanford CA. She worked as a confidential secretary for Safeway stores and as a banker for 23 years before retiring in 1987. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoyed square dancing, church functions and spending time with her grandchildren. Donna and Don celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 13, 2009. Donna is survived by her daughter, Stacy (Black) Buchanan; son Glen Black (Olga); her grandchildren Brandon Buchanan, Mathew Hernandez and Morgan Black. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Don Black, her parents Marvin and Lucy Jones; and brothers Keith and Owen Jones. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother and family during this difficult time. A graveside service will be held at 11am at the North Tulare Public Cemetery at 4572 N. "J" Street, Tulare, CA on March 14, 2025. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at Oaks Estates Mobile Home Park clubhouse at 2459 North Oaks Street, Tulare, CA.
