Donna Faye Haslett, beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 84. Born on March 7, 1941, in Alamosa, Colorado, Donna brought light, laughter, and a touch of sass to everyone lucky enough to know her.
Donna was the heartbeat of our family-a quirky, whimsical, spunky woman with a sparkle in her eye and a kindness that made you feel instantly at home. With her expressive face, famous Bette Davis eyes, and an endless string of questions that could rival the FBI, she made every conversation an adventure. You never left a chat with Donna without feeling truly seen-and probably giggling.
She grew up in the San Luis Valley, later moving to Albuquerque, NM and finally settling in Los Chavez, NM, where she lived for the past 58 years. At just 17 years old, she married her high school sweetheart, Cecil Lloyd Haslett, and together they built a beautiful life across 67 years of marriage. They raised two children, Brenda Lynette Perkins and Clinton Lloyd Haslett, and watched with pride as their family grew to include six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren-each of whom she doted on with boundless love and a fierce sense of loyalty.
A proud drum majorette in high school, Donna kept her spirit young and active through aerobics, Jazzercise, yoga, and step classes. She had a particular love for the color purple and an impressive collection of sweaters that matched her cozy, caring personality. Her cheeks were the cutest, her laugh was contagious, and her hugs made the world feel right again.
Donna was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a woman of deep faith and immense grace. She gave freely, forgave easily, and never failed to make people feel like they belonged. Whether you were family or a stranger, she had a way of making you feel like you were her grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford James and Sadie Inez Olsen, and her sister, Betty Jean Berish. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Lloyd Haslett; her children, Brenda Lynette Perkins and Clinton Lloyd Haslett (Jeannine Haslett); her grandchildren, Zack Haslett (Lexi Haslett), Marlin Perkins, Molly Haslett, Krystal Haslett, Amber Perkins (Noah Hickman), and Linzy Hargrove (Darius Hargrove); and her great-grandchildren, Aizek Apodaca, Diesel Haslett, Titus Apodaca, Sadie Haslett, Miloh Apodaca, and Journee Hargrove.
A viewing for Donna will be held Saturday, July 5, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 160 James St NW in Los Lunas, NM, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM. Pallbearers will be Marlin Perkins, Zack Haslett, Molly Haslett, Krystal Haslett, Amber Perkins, and Linzy Haslett.
Donna Faye Haslett will be remembered for her joy, her sass, her sweetness, and her unwavering love. She was deeply cherished, and her absence leaves a hole no one else could fill. We miss her terribly already-but we're so grateful for the lifetime of love, laughter, and memories she gave us.
