Mrs. Donna Jo King, age 85, of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life on July 7, 2025, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born December 18, 1939, in Columbus, Donna was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Stephens Hawkins.
Donna's youthful days were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the spirited joy that would become her life's signature. She married her beloved husband, William "Bill" King August 20, 1961. Together, they built a life woven with love, commitment, and shared dreams until Bill's passing on October 23, 2023.
Donna, is survived by her daughter Kim (Rick) Hampton of Taylorsville; her treasured grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Burton and Derrick (Micah) Hampton; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Brady and Brenden Burton, Lilyana Hampton, and Natalie Rohm, whose laughs and milestones were the light of her later years. Further cherishing her memory are her brothers, Jack (Billie) Hawkins of Bloomington, Mike Hawkins of Bloomington, and Steve Hawkins of Florida.
Donna's passionate spirit was not tethered quietly to the ground. She loved the Lord with fervor, dedicating each morning to reflection with a cup of hot tea in one hand and her well-worn Bible in the other, in preparation for the day's blessings and challenges. Her faith was her anchor, and she shared that strength through her unwavering attendance at church every week, glorifying the spiritual journey that guided her.
Donna held a deep, unrestrained love for the beach, seizing every moment to sunbathe and immerse herself in a good book, creating her oasis even far from the rippling waves and sandy shores.
In memory of Donna, memorial contributions may be made to Full Gospel Revival Tabernacle Church.
Condolences and special memories may be shared with the King family and a video tribute may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.
