Donovan "Donnie" Wayne McCutcheon, 32, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on June 29, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025 at First Christian Church of Scottsburg, 255 W. McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN, 47170, with burial to follow at Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, and from 10 AM to 11 AM on Monday at the church.
The family requests all attendees of the funeral to wear blue in honor of Donnie.
Donovan was born on January 2, 1993, the first baby born that year in Clark County. He graduated from Charlestown High School in 2011 and then graduated from St.Catherine College in Springfield, KY 2015 after playing baseball on a scholarship. After college, Donnie managed several fitness centers, and then numerous batting facilities in Ohio and Kentucky. He also loved to spend his time coaching and mentoring young men on travel baseball teams.
He found his calling in 2022 when he was hired on as a public servant through the Scott County Sheriff's Office as a Patrolman, and then Detective, after graduating in 2023 from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Class #229, Plainfield, IN. After his hiring by the Scott County Sheriff's Department, Donnie's passion for law enforcement grew and shaped, and defined who he was. His experience and mentoring was evident by the testimonies given by his fellow officers and staff.
Donnie loved playing baseball growing up and throughout college, and loved cheering for his beloved Milwaukee Brewers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Duke University Blue Devils. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending the seasons hunting, fishing, and hiking, all with his loving Duke by his side.
He is survived by his mother, Lazondra Davis (Pete); father, Anthony Wayne McCutcheon (Nichole); siblings, Kerry Howe (Michele), and Megan Williams (Bryce), and, Daniel Davis (Arianna); nieces and nephews, Lina, Payson, Quinn, Presley, Adalynn and Henry; fur son, Duke; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Sheriff Department. Donations should be made online via the obituary, or envelopes will be available at the funeral services.
