Franklin – Doris Louise Coggsdale Carr passed away June 25, 2025 in East Pavilion at the age of 95. She was born and raised in Southampton County, a daughter of the late John Waverly Coggsdale, Sr. and Bertha Harcum Coggsdale. She was also predeceased by her husband, Hugh Etheridge Carr; two daughters, Rebecca Carr Francis and Brenda Carr Holloman; a sister, Joyce Antnette Coggsdale Harrell; and three brothers, Freddy Coggsdale, Hubert Washington Coggsdale, and Shelton Harcum Coggsdale.
Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Jean Paige Coggsdale Vaughan and Evelyn Marie Coggsdale Daughtrey; two brothers, John Waverly Coggsdale, Jr. (Shelby) and Edward Lee Coggsdale, Jr. (Mary Carolyn); two sons-in-law, Wallace Francis and Larry Holloman; eight grandchildren, Dustin Dunnagan, Melissa Holloman Nurney (Randy), Christopher Ray Holloman, Hugh Ryan Holloman (Jessica), Brandy Barnes (John), Shannon Francis, Michael Francis (Heather), and Kirstin F. Rogers (Sam); and eighteen great grandchildren, Chase Dunnagan, Caitlyn Dunnagan, Marissa Nurney, Elizabeth Nurney, Jenna Nurney, Christopher Holloman, Ryland Holloman, Faith Holloman, McKayla Holloman, Jace Holloman, Elsie Holloman, Kailea Carden, Gavin Barnes, Adelle Barnes, Harvest Barnes, Payton Francis, Austin Rogers, and Easton Rogers; and one great great grandchild, Cayden Nash Hughes.
Doris was a former sales clerk for Roses Department Store and Belo's, a fire watch officer at the fire tower in Ivor for many years, homemaker, farmer's wife and gardener. She loved working with flowers. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church and taught Sunday School in the young children's department for many years.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church.
