Mrs. Doris Childers Smith, 87, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Sunflower Springs in Lake Wylie, SC.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. Reverend Chris Donnelly will officiate the service, and the family will receive friends at the cemetery following the ceremony.
Doris was born on November 4, 1937, in York, SC, to the late Herbert Glenn Childers, Sr., and Dora Mae Wilson Childers. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was the widow of Marvin M. Smith. Doris was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in York, SC, where she found joy in her faith and community.
She is survived by her loving children, Kelley McNeely (Leonard), Beth Stowe (Hamp), and Mark Smith (Lisa). She was a proud grandmother to Chad McNeely (Angela), Hanna Badger (Seth), Reilley Smith, and Landon Smith. Her cherished great-grandchildren, Reed McNeely and Chloe McNeely, brought her immense joy. Doris is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Teny Childers and Becky Childers.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Basil Childers, Glenn Childers, and Steve Childers, as well as her sister-in-law, Pat Childers.
To honor Doris's memory, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 236, York, SC 29745, or Agape Hospice, 1069 Bayshore Dr., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lake Wylie Assisted Living and Sunflower Springs of Lake Wylie for their dedication and compassionate care for Mrs. Doris. A special thank you to Heather Bialecki and Amy Harris of Agape Hospice for their kindness, love, and support during this time.
