Dorothy Edith Belt, 91, of Centertown, MO left this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Dorothy was born on December 12, 1933 in Henley, MO the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Hoskins) Gilpin both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert Belt on December 28, 1953 in Cedar City, MO. She attended Russellville School and Mt. Carmel School. Dorothy worked for Kress Five and Dime (New Mexico) as well as Tweedie's and McGraw Edison in Jefferson City before quitting to stay home and be with her daughter. Dorothy was a member of the Centertown Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for younger children and was the Ladies Leader at the other churches she attended over the years. She used her gifts and talents to serve Christ in any way she could. To raise funds for the church building project she made many crafts and baked lots of goodies. Even though she was never blessed with grandchildren, she served as grandma/nanna for nieces and nephews over the years. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Belt of Centertown, MO; siblings, Bill Gilpin (Wilma) of Centertown and Stanley Gilpin (Darlene) of Elston. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years as well as her siblings, Beulah Cundiff, Eulah Gilpin, Opal Hayes, Hazel Schmutzler, Junior Gilpin, Alfred Gilpin, as well as Goldie, Ida Rose and Timothy Gilpin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 10 A.M.-12 Noon with the funeral immediately following at 12 noon. Officiating will be Pastor Shawn Higgins. Interment will be at the Centertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The HART Foundation or Independent Living Resource Center's DME fund c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, California, MO.
