Dorothy Marion (Lagnese) Blackwell of Clermont, Florida, age 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Dorothy (aka Dottie or Memaw by her grandchildren) was born February 8, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland. Dottie graduated from the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and attended Valencia State College. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1959. After raising her sons as a stay-at-home mom, she was employed by Lockheed Martin as an Executive Secretary for 11 years and retired in 1992. She was a devout Catholic with a profound devotion to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed travelling, bowling, playing cards, bingo, and crocheting hats for newborn babies at local hospitals. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She loved sharing traditions with her family such as making gnocchi, Italian pizzelle cookies, German cookies and homemade donuts for Donut Tuesday (aka Fat Tuesday). She will be reunited in heaven with her departed loving husband of 65 years, Nicholas C. Blackwell, Sr., She is survived by her sons Nicholas C. Blackwell, Jr (Michele) and David M. Blackwell, Sr. (Marie); as well as grandchildren Lindsey D. Wright (Christopher), Nicholas C. Blackwell III (Emily), David M. Blackwell, Jr., Casey M. Blackwell, and Michael J. Kress, Jr. (deceased); and great grandchildren Olivia H. Wright, Kennedy P. Wright, Christopher Wright and Krystal R. Kress. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Dorothy M. Blackwell to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
