Dorothy Jane Grana, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at her home in
Carmel, NY. Born on January 20, 1937, in White Plains, NY, Dorothy's life was a testament to the power of unwavering kindness and devotion to family.
Dorothy was the cherished wife of Lewis Grana for the past 65 Years. With Lewis, she shared a beautiful and enduring love. She was born to the late William and Margaret (Wylie) Milton and grew up alongside her sister Mary Siburn and her late sisters Patricia Roach and Joan Fanelli. Dorothy's legacy continues through her loving children, Stacy Ochs (Timothy Ochs) and John Grana (Martha Pimentel), and her adored grandchildren, Thomas Ochs (Jessica), Justine Perilli (Christopher), Kevin Ochs, Lewis Grana, and Isabella Grana. Her joy was multiplied with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Elliana Ochs.
A graduate of White Plains high school, she was a member of the Softball team. Dorothy dedicated her life to the noble calling of a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered. A dedicated parent to Stacy and John, she made sure never to miss a chance to see a cheer event, baseball, and football or wrestling event. This naturally carried over into the lives of her adored grandchildren. She loved her many nieces and nephews and was known as a fun aunt, who loved a game of whiffle ball, basketball, tennis and cards among others. Their relationships were deep and meaningful. She was always a child at heart while also a beacon of love and support to them.
Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a parishioner at St. James the Apostle Church, she served with the Altar & Rosary Society. She attended mass daily and enjoyed the relationships with many of her fellow parishioners. She took the time to know her fellow parishioners and was drawn to those in need. She made a point of serving those needs quietly and unnoticed to most.
Dorothy loved all sports, she was a member of the Carmel Fitness and Racquet club for over 30 years where she played on many of their USTA Club teams. She developed many close lifetime friendships there that remained very important to her.
Those who knew Dorothy would describe her as funny, loving, faith-filled, and kind. Her presence was a comfort and her guidance a light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we remember Dorothy, we are reminded of the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Dorothy lived her life by doing small things with great love every day of her life.
Dorothy Jane Grana's memory will be forever cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to feel the warmth of her love. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and faith will endure for generations to come.
