Dorothy Ann (Barnes) Hazlett, 82, passed away on August 5, 2025 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on December 20, 1942, in Callaway County to the late Herman Barnes and the late Mary (Branch) Barnes.

After spending 30 wonderful years together, she and Joe Hazlett were married on August 22, 2015. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2023.

Dorothy was a registered nurse and dedicated much of her career to providing compassionate care in nursing homes. Her gentle nature, empathy, and unwavering dedication to others left a lasting impact on the lives of many patients and families.

She also found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed spending time with Joe playing bingo, card games with close friends, and spending quiet mornings hunting and fishing. She loved going to yard sales and had a special talent for finding hidden treasures. She was also a woman of strong faith and was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Dorothy will be remembered for her kind heart, love of the outdoors, and the joy she brought to those around her. She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly but find comfort in the memories they shared.

Those that remain to cherish her memory are, her sons, Tommy Jones (Rhonda), Joseph Goucher (Brenda); daughters, Lisa Hazlett (Joe), Rachael Kaminski (Bernard); sisters, Thelma Brown, B. Loucile Malone; grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, Derek, Darren, Dillon, Dalton, Ryan, Anastasia, Kobe, Skylar, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, William Barnes, Robert Barnes, Ralph Barnes, Roll Barnes, James Barnes, sisters, Ruby Barnes, Anna Witt, Lela Meyer, and grandchild, Oren.

Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Haldeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Williamsburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Missouri Cancer Center, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251. Or donations can be made to Maupin Funeral Home for a higher education scholarship fund.
