Dorothy "Dot" Lewis, a beacon of adventurous spirit and captivating interest, passed away on July 11, 2025, in Killeen, TX, at the age of 85. Born on November 4, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Dot's vivacity and love for life never ceased to inspire those around her. She departed this world as she lived in it, with vitality and a spirited heart.
Dot's journey through life was marked by her zest for adventure and her innate ability to make every moment count. She was a woman who embraced life's twists and turns, always finding joy in the unknown. Her laughter was contagious, her stories captivating, and her presence a comfort to all who knew her. As Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," and Dot embodied this sentiment in every aspect of her existence.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband with whom she share over 50 years of love, Edward Hudson, Sr., and her children. Her sons, Curtis Wright of Berlin, Germany, and Charles Wright, Jr. (Rachel) of Temple, TX, along with her daughters, Charlotte Draper (Michael) of Philadelphia, PA, and Cassandra Harris (Seth) of Virginia Beach, VA. Dot's stepsons, Edward Hudson, Jr. of Killeen, TX and Jerome Hudson (Cassie) of Stafford, VA. Her brother, Eddie Lewis of Detroit, MI, and sister Patty Lewis of Brooklyn, NY, will miss her dearly, as will her nineteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also mourn the loss of Dot.
Preceding Dot in death were her parents, Freddy and Annie Mae Lewis, and her siblings, Johnny Lewis, Grady "Butch" Lewis, and Willa Mae Lewis. They have now welcomed her into the tranquil embrace of eternity.
Dot's life was a testament to the power of embracing the present and forging deep connections with those around her. Her adventurous spirit will continue to live on in the stories told by those who knew her and the lives she touched. As we bid farewell to Dorothy "Dot" Lewis, we are reminded that the essence of a person is not in the length of their days, but in the life they lived and the memories they create.
In remembering Dot, we celebrate a life fully lived, a journey well-traveled, and a legacy of spirit and adventure that will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace, knowing that her story is far from over, as it is etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
