Dorothy L. Luft, 93 of Sterling passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025. A closed casket funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. James R. Nash officiating. A luncheon will follow the funeral. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
Dorothy was born November 26, 1931, in Bayard, Nebraska, to Henry and Natalie (Reifschneider) Hass. She attended and graduated from Bridgeport High School in Nebraska. Dorothy married Carl A. Trout on October 19, 1950, and later married August Luft on September 19, 1981. She enjoyed quilting, reading, embroidery, crafting and spending time with her horse Timmerosa.
Dorothy was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the quilters guild.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Trout and August Luft, son Craig Trout, grandson Tyler Trout, brother Elmer Hass, sister Shirley Crow, sister-in-law Bette Hass, daughter-in-law Deonne Dauenhauer, sons-in-law Mike Quintana and Chuck Brady, and brothers-in-law Terry Terwilliger and Steve Cain.
Dorothy is survived by her children Steve (Gina) Trout of Sidney, NE, Tom Trout, Jim (Brenda) Trout and Dana Quintana all of Sterling, CO; grandchildren Sarah (Tim) Gill, Natalie (Nate) Mitchel, Craig (Cortney) Trout, Tim (Shannon) Trout, Steven (Debra) Brady and Christine (Derek) Cox and great-grandchildren Dylan Mitchel, Kaitlyn Mitchel, Amelia Gill, Will Trout, Annabella Trout and Ally Cox.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 732 Clark St., Sterling, CO 80751.
