Biography
Ann Marie Stevenson went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025, at the age of 61. She was born in Lansing, Michigan to Larry and Joan Schafer on October 19, 1963, and grew up in DeWitt, MI. Ann attended high school at Lansing Catholic Central and received her associate's degree from Lansing Community College. She worked as a Data Systems Analyst for the State of Michigan and retired in 2000.
Relationships
Ann married Brady on June 2, 1990 at St. Therese of Lisieux in Lansing, MI. They met when Ann was asked by a friend to sing at a wedding, and Brady was asked by the bride to be an usher at the same wedding. At the rehearsal dinner, Ann asked the bride, Cindy, if any single men were in attendance. Cindy pointed at Brady and said, "He's right there!" They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary earlier in 2025. They have 2 children together, Kate and Ben.
Pursuits and Passions
Things important to Ann: God, her family, her community, music, and advising anyone on anything.
Ann was a faithful member of the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing since 2012. She attended Mass weekly and participated in Alpha Groups. Prior to Res, Ann attended St. Thomas Aquinas and was actively involved in a Theology of the Body book study. Additionally, she joined the Work of Christ community in East Lansing in 2002. Ann and Brady made their public commitment to the group a few years later. Ann greatly enjoyed participating and hosting her WOC women's group and Lord's Day celebrations.
For over a decade, Ann also acted as Chapter President for the Lansing chapter of Couple to Couple League International. Her most notable CCL project was the orchestration of a diocesan-wide NFP Clergy Day which resulted in the nationwide distribution of the One More Soul recording through the organization.
Because she enjoyed having a full plate, Ann homeschooled her children for 5 years after retiring under the school name "Another Nazareth Home School." In her free time, Ann enjoyed many crafts including rubber stamping, scrapbooking, and using her Cricut. She also enjoyed planning events, including brainstorming, decoration, and execution. She stored many decorations, serving dishes and drink coolers, tables, and other party supplies to lend to others at a moment's notice.
Family
Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Schaefer Przedwojeski in 1991. She is survived by her husband Brady Stevenson, parents Larry and Joan (Harr) Schaefer, children Kate (& Brendan) Nordstrom of Columbia, MD, and Ben (& Molly) Stevenson of Lansing, MI, and siblings Beth (& Dave) Dainton, Eric (& Lori) Schaefer, Clint (& Sarah) Schaefer; Tom (& Diane) Przedwojewski, and many nieces and nephews.
