Dorothy Carolyn Swanson, age 70, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on September 8, 1954 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was the loving daughter of Leonard Swanson and Dorothy Snow Swanson Martin, and was raised in Chattanooga. She was a 1972 graduate of Chattanooga High School, and she on to obtain her BS in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 1981. She lived in Indianapolis for 20 years. During that time she worked as a chemist for Eli Lily but left to raise her 4 children. She used her chemistry knowledge and love of nature to dive into the world of natural remedies thru herbs. She spent countless hours studying plants and their properties, ultimately earning a reputation as a knowledgeable and compassionate herbalist. She believed in the power of plants as medicine and was passionate about sharing this wisdom and her herbal remedies with those she loved and anyone she came across who needed her help. Dorothy married David C. Miller on June 4, 2006 in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. They moved to the Hanover area in 2007. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed being outdoors hiking, camping, or working in her garden. She also enjoyed cooking and reading. Dorothy died at her home in Hanover, Indiana with her loving family at her side.

Dorothy will be missed by her mother, Dorothy Snow Swanson Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her loving husband of 18 years, David C. Miller of Hanover, Indiana; her son, Gregory Ellis and his wife, Stephanie of Lafayette, Indiana; her daughters, Geni Bean Brown and her husband, Corey of Durham, North Carolina, Christie Duh and her husband, Tom of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Liana Cross and her husband, Adam of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her stepdaughters, Amy Clubb and her husband, Joe of Hanover, Indiana, Elissa Miller of Columbus, Ohio, and Julie Miller of Carmel, Indiana; her stepsons, Zachary Miller and his wife, Kellie of Brownstown, Indiana, and Andy Miller and his wife, Ashley of Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, Ashlyn, Alyson, Ariana, Gavin, Gabriella, Brooklyn, Gigi, Isabel, Vander, Waverly, Wylder, Liam, Solea, Henry, Lily; her sisters, Peggy Burch of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Frances Swanson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Joyce Lloyd and her husband, Morty of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her brother-in-law, Walter Miller and his wife, Kathy of Hartville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Swanson.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE
There will be a private family graveside service, with a public Celebration of Life visitation following on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Chattanooga Church, 6188 Adamson Circle, Chattanooga TN 37416 from 12:00-2:00 p.m.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Momentum or Caldsted Foundation. Cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres of Madison and Hanover. Online condolences, remembrances and memorials can be left at www.morgan-nay.com.
