Douglas Lee Fountain

June 25, 1958 – July 29, 2025

Douglas Lee Fountain, born on June 25, 1958, passed away peacefully at his home in Newport, Michigan, on July 29, 2025, at the age of 67. A dedicated and respected Union Sprinkler Fitter for Sprinkler Fitters Local 704 Detroit, Douglas took great pride in his vocation, working diligently throughout his career.

Douglas was known for his love of boating and cherished the time he spent visiting Sister Islands with his family. An avid fisherman, he found joy and tranquility in the waters. Family and friends will remember him for his humor, confidence, and sometimes stubborn nature. He was incredibly proud of his son's service to the country in the Marine Corps, a testament to the values he held dear.

A graduate of Jefferson High School's class of 1977, Douglas maintained deep roots in his community. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene R. and Elizabeth M. (Barron) Fountain, as well as his brother, Donald G. Fountain, and sister, Deborah Fountain.

He is survived by his loving children, Gene D. (Holly) Fountain of Newport and Christa L. Holmes of Monroe. He also leaves behind his brothers: Daniel B. Fountain of Newport, Dale R. (Janet) Fountain of Monroe, and Dennis A. Fountain of Newport, and four grandchildren: Isaac Fountain, Skylar Fountain, Hunter (Allison Alexander) Holmes, and Cooper Holmes, who will all miss him dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Douglas's life and legacy will continue to be celebrated by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rupp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Douglas' memory are suggested to the family.
