Douglas Troy McGinnis passed away on June 30, 2025 in Sandy, Utah. He was born on August 30, 1962 in Salt Lake City to Samuel Currie McGinnis III and Mona Dean McGinnis. He married Paulene Waddell. They were later divorced.
Troy fulfilled his dream of becoming a truck driver in 1993. He loved motorcycles and watching movies. He loved his grandkids more than anything. He loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed watching football. The Tennessee Titans were his favorite team.
Troy is survived by Monaka Blackburn (daughter), Cody Blackburn (son-in-law). Chad Waddell (son), Ashley (daughter-in-law), and four grandchildren. Mother, Mona Dean McGinnis, siblings Samuel McGinnis IV, Stephanie Ault (Cory), Mike McGinnis (Patricia), many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Currie McGinnis III and his grandparents.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah 84117 from 10:00-10:45 AM followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4670 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah 84117.
