Douglas Gene Zuehlsdorff Obituary 12/19/1945 to 6/20/2025 It was on a delightful summer morning in June that our dad, Douglas G. Zuehlsdorff, joined his creator. Doug (son of Maurice and Dorothy Zuehlsdorff) lived 79 years of adventure with many passions. He was an avid sportsman with a zeal for all sports from baseball and hockey to hunting and fishing. However, the part of Doug that has left a lasting impression was his creativity and love of art. Whether it was designing and building an ice fishing house in his living room to creating beautiful images of wildlife using sketching and painting, his artistry illustrated his deep love of the beauty that surrounds us all. Doug thoroughly enjoyed the company of friends and had a very generous and adventurous way of living. After moving from Moorhead to the lake in LaPorte MN, he and his wife, Joan, downsized and moved to Pine River, MN. Upon her passing in 2021, Douglas moved to The Rivers Retirement Community in Burnsville to be closer to family. Living there presented him with more adventures. There he met his sweet friend, Pam and became well known for his involvement in all activities that were offered. Twins games, going out to eat, going to the movies, playing Bingo and cribbage and traveling with Pam were among his favorite things to do during this phase of his life. He is survived by his two children, two siblings, two nephews, two nieces, seven grandchildren and one great-grand child. His life will be celebrated at 2pm on Thursday, August 7th at The Rivers Retirement Community located at 11111 River's Hill Drive, Burnsville, MN with a musical guest dad would have loved alongside a sweet treat he would have devoured! We are very thankful to The River's and MN Hospice for the loving care, patience and compassion they showed him during his journey home. Dad did it his way. Play Ball. Memorials can be made to The Rivers Retirement Community in dad's name.
