DUANE DANIELSON Obituary

DUANE DANIELSON 03/13/1942 - 07/08/2025 Duane Danielson, 83, currently of Brainerd and formerly of Hanley Falls, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield. Visitation was from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Duane Milo Danielson was born on March 13, 1942, in Clarkfield. He was the son of Olender and Mildred (Peterson) Danielson. Duane was baptized as an infant and was confirmed in his youth at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. He grew up in Clarkfield and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1960. Following his graduation, Duane purchased a farmstead near Hanley Falls, where he resided for many years. His life's work revolved around farming, although he also contributed to his community through various other roles, such as snow removal and as a substitute bus driver. On November 4, 1988, Duane was united in marriage to Ms. Cleo Solem in Sioux Falls, S.D. In his marriage to Cleo, he was blessed with two bonus daughters, Lori and Sarah. Family was at the heart of Duane's life. He cherished the time spent on camping trips, giving his grandchildren rides on farm equipment, card games, and family get togethers, especially if it involved food - his favorite dishes being meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Duane was a well-known jokester, always having a new joke in his pocket. His love for laughter led him to join the local Clown Club, where he dressed as a clown for community parades, bringing joy to many. When he wasn't spending time with family or making others laugh, Duane could often be found reading. He read from a plethora of sources, but his favorites were farming magazines, newspapers, articles on his phone, and all things Facebook. He enjoyed trail rides as a member of the Central Lakes ATV Club as well as attending social events for the car and snowmobile club with Lori and Jamey. Duane will be fondly remembered for his easy-going demeanor and great sense of humor. His legacy of laughter, love, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Duane died on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He reached the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 26 days. Blessed be his memory. He is survived by his bonus daughters, Lori (Jamey) Penoyer of Brainerd, Sarah Beers (Justin Neis) of Little Falls; grandchildren, Shantel (Dan) Williams, Shane (Holly) Penoyer, Sherri (Ben) Armstrong, Greg (Carissa) Engelkes, Delika Monsen; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Hunter, Maisie, Hailey, Peyton, Harper, Elena, Laynee, Aryanna; siblings, Lyle (Jonnie) Danielson of Cottonwood, Lois Denenberg of Clarkfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Olender and Mildred Danielson; wife, Cleo Danielson; and great-grandson, Holt Engelkes. Arrangements by Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, 507-532-2933.
